1830. Aug. 24
J.B. v. George 3rd.

History of the War
between Jeremy Bentham and George the Third,
by one of the Belligerents.

1.
J.B. first because beginner

I put my own name first. Not that I claim the pas
above the Monarch; but that it was I that began first.

I begin at the beginning.

2
J.B. begins not at but before origo
belli.

I begin at the origo belli. No: not at the origo belli but
before it. Some may say, at the siege of Troy – the era at which
when speaking from the Tribune, a French orator (it has been said)
commences.

3.
In 1756 J.B. had french
tutor Ao 800 Memo: after
fairy tales Télémaque, from
which derived love of justice

Be this as it may, I begin at the year 1756. In that year, I
being short of eight years old, my father had a French Tutor in
the house for me. For my second French book (the fairy Tales being
the first) De la Comptn Combe of Avignon (heaven bless his memory)
put Telemachus into my hands. From that sweet source I took
my first draught – and a hearty one it was – of the love of justice.
