J.B. v. G.3.

Now I have mentioned introduced Mr Wilberforce, 1.
Wilberforce at first a supporter
of Panopticon — J.B. a
Visitor to him — Offers to move in
House for J.B. who seeing
no use does not trouble him

it may not be amiss that mention should be made of the
part he took in the business. At the outset he was
a zealous and active supporter of the Panopticon plan.
By it aA degree of intimacy was and mutual
confidence between him and me grew out of it -
I was a frequent visitor at his table, at which amongst
other public characters of distinction I remember
meeting with Ld Eldon then Attorney-Genl. & Ld Stowell
then I believe as well as now Judge of the Admiralty
Court: not to speak of Ld the Earl of Harrowby &c &c
At one time (I remember it as if it were but yesterday)
on the occasion of an accidental rencontre in
Old Palace Yard within sight of his then residence
"Bentham" said he "I never will forsake you": you
"cannot but be sensible how small a chance there is of
"any effect being produced by a motion made in
"opposition with the inclination of the Minister. But
