A cloud of uncertainty was by all of them
kept enveloping the issue of the whole business.
In my intercourse with Mr Holford I assumed all
along as a matter of course that the
determination of the Committee and
thereafter of government wd be favorable
to me: and to this assumption of mine tho' the
reception given to it was cold no
contradiction was given.
