it was nothing more than "How d'ye do" chitchat –
still he kept on with them no inconsiderable part
of the way and in short as long as could be done
without too marked a desertion of my cause
and the business which has brought him to me.
The other incident was this:– Very near to
Westminster Hall we were met by Ld Redesdale
whether at that time plain Mr Mitford or in
his nobilitated state I do not at this moment
recollect nor is it material: between him
and my two companions passed the same
inhabitable tokens of mutual understanding.
